Academic contribution

As part of a project to validate and study the performance of NRTK GNSS services in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the University of Udine carried out an experimental survey using the MS2 receiver, which played a key role in the field campaigns analysing and comparing the effectiveness of the services offered by the regional networks.

Experimental procedure

The measurement sessions included repeated surveys of the same point, carefully chosen to guarantee an unobstructed view of the sky and so reduce multipath effects.

The experiment was divided into ten sessions carried out under different conditions over time, which produced a meaningful data sample for assessing the accuracy and repeatability of the measurements, both within a single network and between different networks.

Assessment of the results

Comparing the real-time measurements with differential correction against the reference coordinates obtained from a static survey validated the capabilities of the MS2 receiver, confirming its accuracy and its suitability for surveying and cadastral work.

This academic study therefore made an important contribution to the operational validation of the instrument and to its use within regional GNSS networks.
